NO HEELS
If you have never seen Roman roads, you should know that almost all the streets, especially in the centre, are made with cobblestones! So if you don’t want to break your heels (maybe even brand new ones) or worse your ankle, put on some flat shoes, preferably sneakers, also because you will discover that to visit this huge city you will have to walk a lot.
NO COLISEUM AND VATICAN MUSEUMS WITHOUT BOOKED TICKETS
These two places are certainly places worth seeing in Rome, but it’s a good idea to organize beforehand to avoid standing in 3-hour queues! If you don’t know how to do it, I’ll leave you our guide to the Colosseum and the Vatican Museums 😉
NO CARS AND TAXI
If you want to rent a car in Rome you better think carefully. If you only intend to visit the city center, it is better to use public transport (preferably the metro) or go on foot. Rome is famous for its very busy streets but even if you don’t find too many queues, the problem of parking always remains: legend has it that many people have parked at their home and then walked there.
NO RESTAURANTS AND BARS NEAR TOURIST SITES
If you want to eat well and above all if you don’t want to spend too much money and then discover that you have been scammed, definitely avoid the restaurants that are located in front of the main monuments. These places are mostly traps for unaware tourists who jump into the first place they find nearby. Rather, it is better to take a little tour around and you will certainly find better places hidden in the streets that do not need “Throw in”, but their clientele is mainly based on word of mouth.
DO NOT SWIM IN FOUNTAINS
As hot as it may be in Rome, the capital’s fountains are not refreshing pools. If you can’t stand the Roman heat, we recommend visiting the Lazio lakes or avoiding the summer season to visit the city. Furthermore, if you try to bathe you risk a very heavy fine!
